29 Week Update

Hi there! Well, as of last week, I am now officially in my last trimester. Once the puking stopped, this pregnancy sure has flown by fast! My glucose levels have been fine so far, which is good. Tristan has been as active as ever, and has been getting the hiccups alot lately. We went to the doctor yesterday for a regular checkup. My blood pressure was fine, and I've finally gained some more weight. 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks! I could tell my belly had gotten bigger. I should gain about a pound a week from here on out. I gained more weight on a diabetic diet than before-strange. I've also been having a few painless contractions here and there. The doctor said that as long as they are not regular and don't last real long, then that is normal and will be okay. They are called Braxton-Hicks contractions. I had to get a shot of Rhogam yesterday too, and it did not feel so good! But, on to the exciting part of the doctor visit, I had a 4D ultrasound. It was really neat getting to see what Tristan looks like before he is here. He was surprisingly still and cooperative, only a few kicks at the ultrasound tech. In one of the pictures, his umbilical cord is hiding his face slightly but you can see a little smile. It is really sweet. So far it is 3 to 3 on who he looks like. Justin and I can't really decide on who we think he looks like. His estimated weight is 2 pounds and 13 ounces, which is in the 47th percentile for his gestational age. He was head down, which is perfect for delivery. But there is no guarantee that he will stay that way for the next 10 weeks. I just hope he remembers how to get back in that position!

That is his big toe about to touch his nose

Crossing his little feet

There's the little fist that has been punching me!

Beautiful smile

This is a pretty good shot, too

As far as the nursery goes, we finally got the twin bed finished and in the room. Tristan's bedding came yesterday too. So now i just need to get it washed and it will be ready to go. It is really cute and goes with the paint perfectly. I also included some new belly pics.

26 Week Update

Hello all! Well, as some of you already know, my doctor's appointment last Tuesday did not go the way I wanted it to. I failed my three hour glucose test. This means that I have gestational diabetes. I met with a dietician on Thursday to get my glucose meter and go over what I can and can't eat. The diet is more of a balance between carbs and protein and really doesn't sound that bad. Its actually more food than I am used to eating. I just have to lay off the sweets, which is going to be hard! I also have to check my glucose four times a day. So far my glucose levels have been on the lower side, and as long as they stay that way, I won't have to worry about taking insulin. The diabetes will go away when Tristan is born, but I am at a higher risk for having it with future pregnancies and there is a higher chance that I will develop type 2 diabetes later on in life. The biggest risk that it poses for Tristan is that if my glucose stays really high, he could get really fat before he is born, which is also a risk for me!! Don't worry, I'll be keeping a close eye on those glucose levels! I'll have a few extra doctor's visits towards the end, but otherwise the pregnancy should go on as normal. Tristan hasn't seemed to notice a difference in my diet, he is as active as ever!!

Other than the glucose issues, we are doing fine. Today is Justin's 27th birthday. We are going to go eat at McGuire's in Pensacola with a few friends to celebrate. He is not a big cake fan, which works out great for me since I can't have any! I am planning to get the last coat of stain on the twin bed before we go, so I guess I better go get busy!! We love you all!
