Another great month with the cutest boy on Earth! Tristan has definitely kept us well entertained. He likes to hide from us and then yell out to us different places to look for him. Even if you've made eye contact with him, you still have to go look in all the other places before you can "find" him. He thinks its hilarious to call me "Mom," and I'll say "No." So then he will say "Mommy," and I'll say "Yes." Justin has him calling me "Mama" now too, and I don't like it! He loves to read and do puzzles. We were reading a book before bed and he turned the book a little where I couldn't see the page. I told him to turn the book back because I didn't know what it said. He then perfectly quoted the next line to me in a tone that implied he couldn't believe I didn't know the words. He has been really good at the puzzles where you match the one piece to the picture for a while now. He got a 12 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle for Christmas, and I figured it would take him a little while to get the hang of it, but he mastered it in no time. Of course, putting it together 15 times in one sitting probably helps. He likes to tell me where to put the pieces, but he will tell me the wrong place on purpose and then laugh at me when I can't get them to fit together.
We have had a few days this month with slightly warmer weather, so I tried to take advantage of it by playing outside as much as possible. We planted strawberries, played with his water table, and went to the park a few times. This past Saturday, we went to the Battleship, and Tristan loved it. He really liked looking at all of the airplanes and getting to touch a few of them. We went through the submarine, but mostly stayed on the top deck of the Battleship. It has been a long time since I've been, but I remember a lot of steep stairs and I didn't think that would have been the best idea for me or Tristan. We will definitely go back one day and let him explore the whole ship. He did not want to leave, that is for sure! Justin had to carry him kicking and screaming all the way to the car.
I swore I wouldn't go back to Kangarooz on a Saturday, but it was for a birthday party so we went. It really wasn't that crowded at all until closer to time to leave. Tristan had a lot of fun playing in the little kid area and just walking around. He said he was going to jump but when it came down to it, he didn't want to get in. It probably would have been different if I could have gotten in with him, but that's not such a good idea being pregnant and all. We had a good time though, and will have to go back when Justin can go, or when I can jump. Tristan also likes going to the library for story time. They read a few books and do a craft project. He is usually pretty good about sitting still through the stories, but he makes me sit on the floor too and sits in my lap. One time, he let one rip and then turned around and proudly announced to me"I pooted!" I was quite mortified and glad there weren't very many kids there that day! It was pretty funny though!
We are still working on potty training. Tristan's teacher has been putting him on the potty at school, but she said he hasn't actually gone yet, which is pretty much how it is at home too. He has gone once recently at least, and was proud of himself. He was in the tub and stood up and told me he had to go. I was glad he didn't just pee in his bath water (which I'm sure he usually does, I just try not to think about it).
I'm still not really sure how much he gets about Anna Kate. He knows her name, that she is in my tummy, and that she has her own boppy and own room. Although, sometimes he is so clingy, I think maybe he does know what's coming. He has gotten to where he wants me to carry him around everywhere at the house (which I don't, usually). I had to hold his juice cup and his sandwich for him the other day, even though he is perfectly capable of doing it himself. He wanted me to hold him like a baby too, but I was ok with that :). I guess it won't be too much longer until we find out how he really does with her!
