Tristan Update

It's hard to believe it has been almost 3 weeks! Tristan has been doing well. When we left the hospital, he weighed 6 lbs 2 oz, and by his one week Dr.'s appointment, he was already up to 6 lbs 7 oz. The appointment went well-no shots or labs drawn. At his 2 week visit, he weighed 7 lbs 1 oz. The doctor said that it was good if they were back up to their birth weight by 2 weeks, which Tristan has passed. He definitely doesn't have a problem eating! They had to draw some labs. It was just a heel stick but it was kind of hard to watch. I do it to babies all the time, but its different when its your baby! We go back in a couple of weeks for his 1 month checkup. He has to get a shot then-I'm not looking forward to that! Things have been going great at home. Justin has been doing a wonderful job as a daddy. I finally broke down and trimmed his nails-they needed it pretty bad. He needs a haircut already, but I refuse to go there yet! We are finally starting to get into somewhat of a routine. Tristan has started sleeping better between night time feeds instead of deciding this is when he wants to be most alert. He's not the biggest fan of sleeping in his bassinet, but we are working on that. All in all, I can't complain. I'm just trying to enjoy every moment because I know its going to fly by!

He's Finally Here!!!!

The Teet Family

Hello all! Well, our little man has finally arrived! We got to the hospital early Thursday morning and got settled in our room. They started my pitocin at 6:30 and then the contractions began. They weren't too bad but definitely more than the ones I had been feeling in the previous weeks. I was waiting in the doctor to come in and break my water, but Tristan had different plans. My water broke on its own a little before 8 and the contractions got a LOT stronger. It didn't take much longer for me to get some pain medicine and an epidural! I could still feel the contractions after that but it was tightness, no pain. My legs were a little numb though. The doctor came in a few minutes later and checked me and I was 4 cm. A few hours later, the nurse checked me again and I was 6 cm. Around noon, the contractons were closer and stronger and I was starting to feel some pressure. My nurse checked me and I was 9 cm already! She came back around 1 and I was fully dilated so we started doing some practice pushes. It didn't take long and it was time to call the doctor. Tristan's heart rate kept dropping and staying down, which was a little scary. He was also still face up, which was making it a little hard for him to get past my pubic bone. Dr. Cunningham decided to use a vacum and after another push or two, out he popped. His cord was wrapped around his neck twice, which was causing the heart rate drops. Once he was out, he pinked up nice and quick, and looked great. He was born at 1:42 pm, weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. Overall, I had an absolutely wonderful experience, and my nurse was great. Justin was a big help too!!!

Welcome to the world!

Isn't he cute!

Headed Home!

The first two nights in the hospital went pretty well, although there were a few moments during the second night that I wondered if I could really do this. We got to go home on Saturday, and boy did it feel good to be home! So far everything has been going pretty well. I am getting around a lot better and we are getting settled in. Tristan is a great baby. He sleeps really well, and doesn't cry unless he has a reason too. He is a good eater as well! he has a headfull of hair-perfect for mohawks! The past two nights have had a few rough patches, but overall I can't really complain. Justin is doing really great as a new daddy-a little nervous at times, but he's catching on. He hasn't gotten peed on yet, but I'm sure his time is coming! We go to the doctor on Wednesday for Tristan's first checkup. It has actually been a little weird not having my own doctor's appointments twice a week. Well, I better go-someone needs a diaper change!!!

40 Week Update

Hi there! Well, no baby yet! I guess tomorrow will be the day, unless Tristan decides to come tonight. Justin and I have just been trying to get some last minute things done at the house. We've also been trying to get as much rest as we can. I have actually slept pretty good the past few nights, which has been nice. We have to be at the hospital at 5 am tomorrow. That's early! Hopefully things will go smoothly and we'll have a baby by that afternoon! We'll keep you all updated. I'll get some baby pictures posted as soon as I can, but depending on how things are going, it may be a little while. Be thinking about us! We love you all!

39 Week Update

Hello everyone! Well, yesterday I had my last official, prenatal doctor's visit. I had an ultrasound and Tristan looked great. His heart rate was good and he was doing his practice "breathing." His estimated weight was 6 pounds and 12 ounces. Of course, that can be off by 10 ounces either way, but it is nice to have an idea of what size he will be. I'm just glad he is not HUGE! It was hard to get a good picture because he is so squished in there. He is still head down, and is facing a little more to the side than straight out. So maybe that means he is starting to turn around and face my back and getting ready to come out. I was still only 2 cm dilated and hadn't thinned out anymore. I have still been having episodes of regular contractions off and on, but nothing that lasts. I just hope that when I really do go into labor, I don't ignore it for too long! So now the next week will be a waiting game. If nothing has happened by the 9th, I will go in that morning to be induced. My due date is the 7th, so I figured I was being pretty fair in giving Tristan his full 40 weeks-but that's it!

I know it's hard to tell, but that is a foot, and although you can only see 3 toes, all 5 are there!

Overall, I have really enjoyed being pregnant. Aside from the puking the first 15 weeks and checking my sugar 4 times a day for the last 15 weeks, everything has gone pretty smoothly. I think the gestational diabetes was a blessing in disguise, because eating a balanced meal and watching my intake of desserts helped keep me from gaining extra, unnecessary weight-which means that at 9 months I am still really comfortable and can get around pretty well. And hopefully it won't take too long for me to lose the weight! I also ended up with a lot of pictures of Tristan because of all the extra ultrasounds these past few weeks. I was able to work until the end, which means now I won't have to go back until after the beginning of the year-yay, off for the holidays! Justin and I are both very thankful for such a great pregnancy and can't wait to meet our little guy. Although I am terrified of the whole birth process, I think I am ready for it. I am just scared that I am going to miss being pregnant and feeling Tristan move around inside me. I guess that means we will just have to have another one-just kidding-not yet anyway!!!

39 Week Belly

Justin and I had a great anniversary. We got to see our little man and get an update on him. Then we went to the store and bought each other tennis shoes-we are going to need them with a little one to chase after! We both had class that night-I had to renew my CPR for work and he had real estate class-so we didn't get to go out to eat. But I surprised him and had a nice dinner cooked when he got home, and he surprised me with a dozen roses, a really sweet card, and an Auburn picture to hang in our office. Tonight we are going to go out to eat-our last "date" for quite a while I'm sure!
