Tristan is 22 months!

We sure have had a busy month, but lots of fun! Tristan and I went to the Exploreum with my Grandmother, Mom, cousin Savannah, and brother Lee. Tristan enjoyed checking out the snakes and lizards, and loved the little kid play area. We had a hard time convincing him it was time to go. We also took an exciting trip to Columbus, MS to meet little Zooey Marie. She was born July 20, weighing 6 pounds and 15 ounces. Tristan didn't know what to think of her at first. I think he was a little confused because he would still look at my sister's belly when we would ask him where Zooey was. He did enjoy pointing out her facial features and trying to rock her in her car seat. He even held her in his lap for a few minutes and gave her a little kiss. He just didn't like her if I was holding her. Tristan came home with my mom the following Saturday, and I stayed until Monday. That was the longest I had been away from him and it was hard! I know Justin was glad that he was home though, because he had been missing him since Tuesday. I loved getting to spend time with my sister and her family, but it sure felt good to be home with my boys! We also went back to Brantley Farms for a friend of mine's little girl's Birthday party. Tristan had a blast and was much more eager to pet the animals this time. He even rode the horse. He would throw one hand in the air and say "Yee haw!" It was too cute. But unfortunately I forgot the camera, oh well. My friend Ashley (who is from Columbus and was actually there when we were) watched Tristan for me a couple of times while I went to the hospital to see Jennifer and Zooey. She said he was great and played well with her 8 month old little girl, Taylor (who he has played with quite a few times before). I've been trying to return the favor, so I watched Taylor the other day. Tristan wasn't exactly very fond of sharing his toys. Everything that Taylor would put in her mouth, he would take from her and go put it in the kitchen sink and say "Mommy wash." He let her play with her own toys at least. He did try to read a book to her, which was cute, and this time he wanted her to ride on the back of his rocking horse with him, instead of trying to push her off. That is really the first time I've seen him be possessive and say "Mine." His teacher at school says that he shares really well, but I guess its a whole different ball game when they are his toys. Other than that we have just been hanging out at the house and going to the pool. It has been way too hot to go to the park-I can't wait for fall weather! Tristan definitely likes to go swimming and is not afraid of the water. He will blow bubbles and kick his feet behind him and dip the back of his head in the water, but he doesn't like the idea of putting his whole face under. He does, however, love to drink the pool water. It has been hard trying to get pictures of Tristan lately, because he is never still! If you can catch him at the right time, he will give you a fake smile-quite cute!
Getting him to eat has been quite the battle lately, and he seems to be quickly approaching the terrible twos! He can be quite strong willed at times, but most of the time, he is still a sweet, mild tempered, affectionate little boy. There has been little progress in the potty training area, but we haven't exactly been pushing the issue. Ever since he went once, he is not fond of even sitting on the potty. I was hoping it would have the opposite effect.
Tristan is quite a smart little guy. He loves to sing "Twinkle Stars" and "Farm" (Old MacDonald)-as he calls them. He also knows a few of the songs from The Wonder Pets, Dora, and the Backyardigans. He is actually pretty good at singing and hits about every other word or so. He is getting good at singing the alphabet too, and if you stop he will say the next letter. He can count to ten, although he usually like to skip two. I don't know why though, that used to be the only number he said. He also know his colors. For a while I was getting concerned that maybe he was colorblind, but then one day he started naming colors. He knows red, blue, green white, pink, yellow, and purple. He gets a little stumped on orange sometimes, but overall, I think he does great! He is also pretty good at putting puzzles together and putting all the shapes in the shape sorter. I like it when he does new things, but sometimes it makes me sad because it reminds me of how fast he is growing up.

Now for Tristan's big announcement...

Justin and I are expecting our second baby! I am due on April 2, 2011. We went for my 6 week appointment this past Tuesday and had an ultrasound. We got to hear the heart beat and see our tiny little blob of a baby. It brought back a surge of memories, and was definitely just as amazing as the first time! I am planning on starting a new blog for the baby, and hopefully I will have it up and running soon so you can all share in this wonderful new chapter of our lives with us!
